Malawians saved about K617.89 million in revenue during the duty free week which was implemented from January 23-29 this year.
This is according to a brief report which revenue collector, Malawi Revenue Authority(MRA)has released on 1st March 2022.
The report has shown that 902 declarations were processed under the Customs Procedure Code 495 and out of the declarations 218 were for motor vehicles while 648 were for general goods.
Commenting on the report, MRA Marketing and Communications Manager Wilma Chalulu stated that Songwe border had the highest amount of waived revenue of K414.31 followed by Mchinji, Dedza and Mwanza with K139.82million,K25.85 million and K12.58 million respectively.
