Government has launched polio immunization campaign with an appeal to Malawians to disregard misinformation about the vaccine.
Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda presided over the event at Chileka Secondary School in Lilongwe on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists, Chiponda said the ministry is optimistic about a positive turn up considering that this is not the first time that under-5 children are receiving polio Vaccine.
World Health Organization (WHO) representative Dr. Janet Kayita expressed commitment to enhance surveillance against further spread of the Polio.
UNICEF country representative, Rudolf Shwenk said the organization has donated to Malawi 6.8 million doses of the vaccine plus other support as part of the global Polio eradication initiative.
