President Lazarus Chakwera says he is impressed with the electric motorcycles that produce zero carbon emissions built by some young engineers in the country.
Chakwera made the comment on Thursday after hosting a group of young engineers at Kamuzu Palace on March 23 2022.
The young engineers have built the motorcycles with support from foreign investors.
Chakwera added: “This kind of reconstruction of key innovations aligns with our goals of fully adopting climate-smart technologies in building a greener and sustainable economy”.
He also said he was glad that, the engineer’s efforts are contributing positively to Malawi’s transition from a predominantly importing to an exporting economy.
Additionally, Chakwera expressed delight with the course that Malawi is on in the realization of its 2063 Malawi Vision of a self-reliant, industrialized, middle-income nation.
“My administration will continue to create a business-friendly environment for investors in all sectors,” Chakwera said.
“I have since asked the company to develop a strategy for scaling up production which will resultantly create more jobs and wealth.”
