Famers Union of Malawi (FUM) has advised famers in the country to ensure they take care of their harvests for this year’s lean season and prevent themselves from selling at low prices.
FUM president Frighton Njolomole said this as some famers have started harvesting their yield mostly in the southern region whilst others are expected to start harvesting soon.
According to Njolomole, time has come for famers to stop the early selling of their harvest to vendors rather consider selling to ADMARC in order to benefit.
“Very soon many will join others harvesting their crops so it’s important as famers to plan on how to take care of their harvest,” Njolomole said.
He also appealed to famers to prevent being exploited with prices of vendors on the market because that will cause them to lose a lot.
“I am urging famers to patiently wait for the time that ADMARC will start buying our crops rather than have a greedy for money and sell the harvest early and at low price,” he added.
