Police in Mponela, Dowa district, have instituted an investigation into the murder of a 65 year-old-man, Genasiyo Kuulanda, who hailed from Kuphera Village, Traditional Authority Dzoole in the District.

According to Public Relations Officer for Mponela Police Station, Sergeant Macpatson Msadala, the incident occurred on April 10, 2022 at about 19:00 hours at Kuphera village.

Report compiled at Mponela police indicates that Kuulanda was staying with his grandchildren and on the material date and time he left his house to unknown destination.

Later, Kuulanda’s body was found outside a certain house by an 11-year-old girl who was staying in the house with her grandmother.

The little girl reported the matter to the deceased’s son whom together with the villagers reported to Mponela police station where detectives visited the scene of incident.

The body was taken to Ntchisi District Hospital for post-mortem where results of revealed that death was due to head injuries.

Police inquiries are underway to trace and arrest the suspects.
