Blue Eagles Football Club has lodged a complaint to Super League of Malawi (SULOM), against what they call “poor officiation displayed by the centre referee Chidziwitso Simbi” during its TNM Super League match against Nyasa Big Bullets at Nankhaka stadium on April 9, 2022.
According to a letter which Blue Eagles addressed to SULOM, and has been signed by its general secretary, Superintendent Solomon Mchawi, the team is accusing the referee of giving a dubious penalty to Nyasa Big Bullets which was converted by Babatunde Adepoju.
The club further accused the referee for denying them a clear penalty when a Bullets player had handled the ball in the 18-yard box.
Reads part of the letter: “We, as Blue Eagles FC, would like to show our displeasure with the unprofessional and unethical conduct of Mr. Chidziwitso Simbi and make a formal request that he should not officiate any game involving Blue Eagles FC unless these allegations are investigated.”
Further more the club has claimed that this is not the first time that the said referee has failed to handle a match involving Blue Eagles FC in a professional manner.
It says on numerous occasions, he (referee) has been heard saying that as long as he is a center referee, Blue Eagles FC will never win any match.
“To say the least, Mr. Simbi failed to handle the game with a professional acumen and displayed amateurish decisions not befitting a high profile match,” reads the Letter.
The said match, ended in a 1 all draw after Nyasa Big Bullets came from behind to level the score sheet through the controversial penalty.
Blue Eagles FC is currently leading the log table with 10 points from four games played so far.
