The Epilepsy Association of Malawi has applauded journalists in the country on a big role they are playing in highlighting issues concerning epilepsy.
The association’s projects coordinator, Chifundo Zamadunga Phiri, made the remarks while commenting on the incoming feedback from journalists who took part in epilepsy reporting trainings through their webinar meetings last year.
In an interview with YFM online, Phiri applauded journalists for the mass coverage in conveying messages of epilepsy through various platforms.
Phiri has called for journalists to adequately support the organisation in compiling more articles concerning epilepsy in the country.
On the other hand, one of the beneficiaries from the trainings, a journalist from Centre for Solutions Journalism, Moses Sakala, has expressed how prudently he is utilising the knowledge gained from the meetings.
He further added that currently in the media industry, there is massive change in the use of terminologies when dealing with stories concerning epilepsy as compared to the past.
