President Lazarus Chakwera says his four-day trip to Mozambique will help Malawi to boost sectors such as transport and mining.
Speaking to journalists at Kamuzu International Airport on Thursday morning before his departure for Mozambique, Chakwera said the visit will also strengthen the ties between the two nations.
“The visit is a timely opportunity that will not only strengthen the bond between the countries but also enhance the enablers of trade and power institutions,” he said.
Among others, while in Mozambique, Chakwera will launch the Mozambique- Malawi Power Interconnector, conduct bilateral talks with President Nyusi and also visit the Nacala port.
Minister of Mining, Dr. Albert Mbawala, said the president’s trip is very critical as the power interconnector initiative will largely promote the country’s mining sector.
