Leader of Opposition in Parliament and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) southern region vice president Kondwani Nankhumwa has given President Lazarus Chakwera 14 days to meet manufacturers of soap, sugar and cooking oil to discuss solutions to skyrocketing prices of commodities.
Addressing a rally at M’gona in Lilongwe on Sunday, Nankhumwa said he finds it unjustifiable for the President to tour around the country inspecting crop fields when Malawians are facing challenges that require his urgent attention.
The opposition leader has also dismissed speculations that he is planning to launch his on political party. He branded rumours that he wants to take the party to UTM as lies fabricated by people aiming at creating a relationship drift between him and former President Peter Mutharika.
Nankhumwa has since disclosed that he is going to contest at the forthcoming DPP convention.
In what appeared to contradict some speakers at the rally, one of the Party’s National Governing Council members Ken Msonda, has warned the party to end its intraparty fighting saying this will cost the party at the next general election.
