Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa has faulted government for failing Malawians amid rising cost of living.
Addressing a news conference in Lilongwe, Nankhumwa said Malawians are currently sailing through serious economic hardships due to lack of visionary leadership.
“That’s why I’m saying that I think we are going into an abyss in as far as the country’s future is concerned.
“The problems we have in the country did not start yesterday, did not start last week, the problems we have in the country started as soon as the Tonse Government came into power,” Nankhumwa said.
Nankhumwa has since asked government to consider advice put forward by the opposition side as one way of dealing with the current challenges.
He added that the current Opposition has immediate solutions on some of challenges like lack of forex in the country.
“There is no hope for Malawians, you see what is happening in the country, the economy has gone bad, it has gone headway,” Nankhumwa said.
“Nobody knows what is coming tomorrow, there is continued to rise in prices of basic commodities we are talking of salt, sugar, cooking oil.”
The opposition leader has also accused Nankhumwa of draining the little available resources by his frequent travel both local and international.
