Gender rights activist Barbara Banda has applauded President Lazarus Chakwera for appointing Colleen Zamba as new Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Zamba has replaced ZangaZanga Chikhosi who has been given other duties.

Banda said the appointments of women in the top positions like Zamba shows government’s commitment to empowering women.

Banda called on Zamba to work hard in the position to the benefit of Malawians and women in particular.
