Association of Persons Living with Albinism – APAM has appealed for more corroboration among different agencies in ending violence against people with albinism in the country.
The call was made on Monday, June 13, 2022 as Malawi joined the rest of the world in commemorating International Albinism Awareness Day under the theme; “United in making our voice heard”.
Speaking to YFM Online, APAM president Young Muhamba said the day is very important as it helps in highlighting some of the issues that people with albinism face in their everyday life that need to be addressed by authorities.
“This is the day that we advocate issues that affect our wellbeing in everyday life with an aim of letting the duty bearers to address them,” Muhamba said.
Muhamba said people with albinism are going through many hardships such as killings and abductions, exhumations.
