Malawians are tomorrow expected to know the political future of Vice President Saulos Chilima as all is set for the Veep to address the nation.
Chilima’s scheduled news conference comes amid a decision by President Lazarus Chakwera to withhold all delegated duties while waiting for the Anti-Corruption Bureau to substantiate its corruption allegations against the Vice President.
Speaking to Yoneco FM, a political expert George Phiri said Malawians are anticipating to know outcome of a meeting that Tonse Alliance leaders recently held.
Anticipated Phiri: “I think Malawians should be expecting the vice president to explain what is in the Alliance, the agreement they made as President and Vice President.
Secondly, Malawians are also interested to know what transpired in the Alliance meeting which just ended last week when they met.”
Phiri added that it is in the interest of Malawians to know Chilima’s political future irrespective of corruption allegations levelled against him.
“Malawians also would want to know the future of the Vice president, from himself, from the horse’s mouth. What is he thinking about? Is he still going on? And what happens with relationship with the Tonse Alliance.
“Malawians are also interested to know how did it happen that is mentioned in the Zuneth Sattar case, Malawians would also want to know that why his name was mentioned,” Phiri said.
According to a statement issued earlier this week, Chilima is expected to address the nation in his capacity as the country’s Vice President and as President of the UTM Party.
