91 girls who were saved from child marriages in the area of Senior Chief Kachindamoto in Dedza District are expected to sit the upcoming national examinations for this calendar year.
These are among over 2,000 girls who have benefited from an initiative of ending child marriages that was initiated in 2003 by Senior Chief Kachindamoto, as a way of promoting girl child education in her area.
Chief Kachindamoto said among the girls, 42 are expected to sit for Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examination while 49 will sit for Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination this year
She has since called on local leaders and other authorities across the country to join hands in making sure that child marriages are eradicated to help the girl child get education.
