Voter registration and verification exercise for the local government by elections slated for August 23 ends on Monday July 25, 2022.

Speaking to Yoneco FM online, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) director of media and public relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa said the commission will not extend the period for the exercise.

Mwafulirwa encouraged all eligible voters to verify their details and register so as to exercise their right to vote come election day.

“It is critical that they go and verify now that there is ample time to resolve any anomaly unlike discovering the issue on polling day,” Mwafulirwa said.

The by elections will take place in Wenya ward in Chitipa,Lupembe ward in Karonga and Shire Ward in Balaka.
