Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) has expressed worry with the influx of foreign examination bodies saying most of them are offering low quality examinations and are not accredited in Malawi.
Teveta Executive Director, Elwin Sichiola, said all foreign bodies are required to be accredited by Teveta for them to operate in Malawi to ensure that the quality of examinations that they are offering should be in line with the country’s standards.
The remarks were made during an interface meeting which the authority brought together employers from southern region with the aim of encouraging them to prioritize candidates who have a Malawi Teveta certificate.
The meeting also attracted officials from different technical colleges who expressed worry that most students are demotivated by the low upkeep allowances which Teveta gives them during their studies in the technical colleges.
