Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has appealed to all aspiring candidates for August 23 by- elections to present their nomination papers to returning officers in their ward for scrutiny on August 4, 2022.

This comes as the body is set to receive the nomination papers on August 5, 2022 from all candidates who are contesting in Shire Ward in Balaka district, Lupembe Ward in Karonga and Wenya Ward in Chitipa district.

Sangwani Mwafulirwa, MEC Director of Media and Public Relations said the verifying their details with the returning officers will help to collect all the mistakes that may be found on the nomination papers before presenting them to MEC.

Mwafulirwa has therefore urged all aspiring candidates to observe peace during the exercise.
