Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi (Fedoma) has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing administration of the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examination.
Executive director Symon Munde, told YFM online that so far no challenges have been registered on the part of candidates with different disabilities compared to last year.
Munde said: “Basically we can say that this year the exams have started very well unlike last year where we noticed some challenges in terms of examination papers that were not in the right format and also were not allocated to the right places.”
He further said during the previous exams, candidates were not adequately assisted by the invigilators.
“But this time around we haven’t received any complaint of any challenge from all the examination centers and this good news was also registered during the previous Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC) exams,” Munde said.
Munde added that the development is encouraging and they expect successful results from the candidates with different disabilities.
He therefore asked the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) to ensure that the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination is also administered in a friendly environment for the persons with disabilities.
The 2022 JCE exams started on August 2 and will end on August 11.
A total of 159,946 candidates are sitting for JCE examination, of which 80,357 are girls and 79,589 are boys.
Administration of JCE was stopped in 2016 and re-introduced in 2021.
