Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Eastern Region Bright Msaka has officially announced that he will contest for the presidency at the party’s convention.
Speaking this afternoon at a media briefing in Lilongwe, Msaka said having served in various leadership portfolios, he believes he has all capabilities to be the party’s torch bearer in 2025 presidential election.
He declared: “From the foregoing, I believe I have the requirements that are needed for the leadership of our mighty Democratic Progressive Party.
I, therefore, with great humility, hereby announce my candidature for the leadership of the DPP at the convention to be held in 2023.”
Msaka said once ushered into power, he is ready to rescue Malawians from various challenges which he said are largely as a result of leadership failure by the current administration.
He said: “If elected as President in 2025 I shall bring to bear all the experience that this nation has given to me over many years, to provide the kind of leadership that understands how our country works; how to repair and grow the broken economy.
A leadership that knows how to manage our international relations for the benefit of Malawi; a leadership that knows how to support individuals and families earn enough money for themselves.”
The Machinga Likwenu lawmaker, disclosed that more details about his plans would be communicated to Malawians in coming months and years.
