Malawi is expected to host another Malawi and Zimbabwe trade exhibition this year, organizers said on Tuesday at a news conference in Lilongwe.
The exhibition which took place last year in Lilongwe has been moved to Amaryllis Hotel in the business hub of Blantyre, and is scheduled to kick off from September 20 – 22.
Export Promotion Officer for ZimTrade, Alex Mutandi said the event is aimed at strengthening trade linkages between Malawi and Zimbabwe.
“We want to create time for b to b meetings and networking sessions for visiting companies and this will allow us to interact more with the businesses community.
This allows us to see more of what the business community is doing and understand what they are looking for in their business premise to help seal more deals,” Mutandi said.
Last year, the event attracted 15 Zimbabwean companies but this year 20 Zimbabwe Companies have already confirmed their participation.
The trade relationship between Malawi and Zimbabwe is fruitful as most products produced in Zimbabwe are also accepted in Malawi.
Some of the major exports and imports between the two countries include; wood in rough, agrichemicals, insulated wire, soya-bean, groundnuts, tobacco (un-manufactured and manufactured) and cement.
