Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 39- year-old Nigerian national for being found in possession of cocaine.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu identified the suspect as Odii Chukwuma Emeka, a resident of Biwi Township.
Chigalu said the Nigerian was arrested following an undercover operation by police detectives.
“Detectives from Central West Region and Lilongwe Police Station went undercover after learning that the suspect was heading for Chilinde Township to do the business,” Chigalu said.
“Just before he could finally do business with the potential client, Emeka found himself in the hands of police detectives. Upon searching his handbag, he was found with two blisters of the suspected cocaine wrapped.”
Emeka will appear before court soon to answer a case of being found in possession of dangerous drugs.
The arrest of Emeka, comes barely less than a week after the arrest of a 35-year-old Nigerian national, Chima Okoyi, for a similar offence.
