President Lazarus Chakwera has admitted that his administration has failed to fulfill some of the key priority issues Tonse Alliance promised Malawians including job creation, food security and wealth creation.
Chakwera made the remarks at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe at the 2022 Malawi Investment Summit.
He said that this is a result of what he called a consortium of crisis such as Covid-19 pandemic, tropical storms and power disruptions.
Chakwera also said he has ordered the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), ministry of Energy and Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority – MERA to address the fuel crisis as soon as possible.
The Malawi leader acknowledged that current shortage of fuel is affecting manufacturing, businesses, work, and domestic life, but was quick to assure Malawians that he will work tirelessly to solve the problem.
However, he added that government has already secured 28 million dollars from local banks for fuel purpose, and that they are in pursuit of another 50-million-dollar facility for the same.
