Friday, September 17, 2022, was an appreciation night for staff at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust where at least 20 employees scooped different awards.
Interim Director for MLW Professor Henry Mwandumba stated that this was one way motivating staff to continue to do excellent work for the organization and the people of Malawi.
“We recognized employees in different categories ranging from longest serving, best research groups and lifetime achievers among others,” Mwandumba said.
Mwandumba also took time to thank its partners for the support they have rendered the institution over the years.
These include Malawi government, Wellcome, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UKRI and KUHES just to mention a few.
Mwandumba was among the awardees, and he took home the Lifetime achievement award.
One of the employees who got an exceptional growth award Tiferanji Sochera thanked the institution for recognizing her hardwork.
“I joined MLW 7 years ago as a study coordinator, then I progressed to research governance officer to administrator and now I am the quality manager, I joined as a research nurse with a Diploma and am now pursuing a master’s in clinical research,” Sochera said.
The staff awards are part of the silver jubilee for the institution.
