Nsanje District Health Office (DHO) says is pleased with the commitment of local leaders and parents in the just ended polio immunization campaign.
Nsanje District Environmental Health Officer Fred Minyaliwa told YFM Online that the office has managed to vaccinate more than 95 % of under-five children in the district.
“The exercise has been good and fair with the help of local readers and al people in the district which has helped us to vaccinate more that 95 % of the targeted children in the district,” Minyaliwa said.
However, Minyaliwa said the district is continuing with the campaign with an aim to reach the hard-to-reach areas in the district.
“We are still doing the mop ups in the district as in some areas we could mess-up with parents and we have also planned to reach to the hard-to-reach areas within Monday and Tuesday this week,” he added.
The Ministry of Health has been administering fourth phase of polio vaccine to all under five children across the country from October 13 to 16 this year.
