The Anglican Church has ex-communicated former Bishop of the Diocese of Upper Shire Brighton Malasa for misconduct in the running of church affairs.

In a letter addressed to Malasa, Archbishop Albert Chama of the Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa said besides Malasa, all others who defied the order of the church in the long protracted disagreements with higher church orders have also been ex-communicated.

For a long time there has been a wrangle in the diocese where some church members have been demanding for Malasa’s resignation over alleged mismanagement of funds and maladministration.

As part of efforts to resolve the wrangle, on October 14, 2022, Archbishop Chama was scheduled to meet Malasa but the meeting failed to take place.
