YONECO faults judiciary

By Esnart Chingwalu

Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) has faulted the country’s judicial systems’ laxity in handling cases of children who are in conflict with the law.

YONECO’s Executive Director, MacBain Mkandawire, said this amid the 19 days campaign against violence against children and youth.

Speaking to YFM, Mkandawire said the poor conditions the children are exposed to including being kept in cells alongside adults among other things; expose the children to other forms of abuses.

However, Mkandawire commended government for its coordination with non-governmental organizations in empowering such children saying the efforts are assisting in promoting their rights.
