The National Statistical Office (NSO) has launched a national Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Observatory Hub information Management System (OHIMS) in a bid to ensure effective and efficient collection, management, analysis and dissemination of SGBV data.
Speaking during the official launch of the hub on Thursday morning in Zomba, NSO Commissioner, Lizzie Chikoti, said the hub will among others ensure that there is interoperability among different sources of information, duplication elimination and effective coordination of data collection, transmission and reporting.
The hub has been developed under the Spotlight Initiative programme with support from UNDP, EU, UNFPA, UN Women among other partners.
The data is being collected and transmitted to the national hub through the district mini data hubs from the communities of Mzimba, Nkhata Bay, Dowa, Ntchisi, Machinga and Nsanje under the Spotlight Initiative Programme using harmonized data collection tool.
The data is also being collected and transmitted from the district hospitals and the district police victim support units.
