The Malawi Law Society (MLS) has lamented that the suspension of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Steven Kayuni has disrupted the trial process of some criminal cases.
MLS President Patrick Mpaka, said this as two weeks have now elapsed since the DPP was suspended over the controversial arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB Director General, Martha Chizuma.
The constitution mandates the DPP to give consent for cases to be prosecuted and timely expedite investigation; prosecute criminal cases and provide advisory legal services to the government; hence his absence has stalled the process.
Speaking to YFM, Mpaka said the situation is denying people justice.
