The Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi (FEDOMA) has commended government for operationalizing the Disability Trust Fund.
Government operationalized the fund three years down the line since it started allocating resources to the fund which is now pegged at about K475 million.
Earlier the Ministry of Gender Community Development and Social Welfare said that the delay to implement the fund due to the delays in the appointment of the board of directors for the trust fund.
Reacting to the development, Acting Executive Director for FEDOMA, Symon Munde, expressed delight with the move saying it was long-overdue adding that it will help to economically empower persons with disabilities.
