Forestry authorities in Khonsolo area in Mzimba district have hailed the good working relationship with Youth Net and Counselling (Yoneco) which is implementing a project called Sustainable Management of Landscape (Samala) in the area.
Speaking after Samala project donated bamboos to some lead in the area, senior forest guard for the area Edwin Chipeta said the project will help a lot in conserving the environment.
“We appreciate a lot with the way organisations implementing this project are performing since its start, we hope that this good working relationship will help a lot as we are conserving our environment here,” said Chipeta.
Chipeta added that once planted, the donated bamboos will increase number of trees in the area on top of trees that the district is expected to plant in this 2022/2023 tree planting season.
Samala project aim at contributing to the restoration degraded landscapes to support sustainable livelihoods in selected Extensions Planning Areas of Mzimba, Kasungu, Ntchisi and Dowa.
The five-year Samala project is being implemented by Total Land Care, Youth Net and Counseling and the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry with financial support from government of Flanders and Embassy of Ireland.
