Organizers of the anti-government demonstrations that are expected to take place in Mulanje on January 27, 2023, have taken a new direction and have announced that they will deliver their petition to British and American governments through their country representatives.
Leader of the organizers, Bon Kalindo, said the concerned citizens have continuously engaged government authorities through demonstrations but government has failed to act.
Among other contents in the petition, the concerned citizens are requesting donor partners to withdraw aid to Tonse Alliance led government.
The petition is also calling for implementation of international travel bans for President Lazarus Chakwera and members of his cabinet.
Kalindo said the grouping is confident that their new direction will force Chakwera to resign.
