The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has expressed worry over failure by state-owned companies to pay dividends to the government.
Pac was reacting to sentiments by Comptroller of Statutory Corporations Peter Simbani that several state-owned companies are making losses hence relying on government bailout.
Simbani said several parastatals are not making profits due to abuse of resources.
He said some of the parastatals are being owed huge amounts of money by government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
PAC Vice chairperson Ned Poya said it is high time all parastatals started working on registering profits so that they should be paying dividends to the government for the benefit of all Malawians.
