A grouping of activists led by Bon Kalindo have announced national-wide shutdown demonstrations on March 20 to force President Lazarus Chakwera, Secretary to President and Cabinet, Collen Zamba and Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda to step down.
At a press briefing in Lilongwe on Thursday, the activists under the banner Concerned Citizens, said President Lazarus’s administration has failed to govern the country citing the seemingly off-track fight against corruption, executive arrogance and failure to bring solutions to socio-economic challenges.
According to the grouping, it is surprising that Chakwera’s administration has opted to go for legal battles against Martha Chizuma using hard earned taxpayer’s money instead of fighting corruption.
They have since called on development partners to freeze direct aid to the government and impose travel ban on President Chakwera and senior government officials.
