The NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has deregistered a non-governmental organization called United Mission Foundation for collecting money from beneficiaries.
In a statement that the body has released dated February 9, 2023, it says it received complaints that the organization was collecting money from the public or its beneficiaries, which contravenes its condition of registration.
The statement further states that through a hearing, the foundation contravened the Non-Governmental Act specifically section 23(1) (b).
According to NGORA, should the Foundation feels aggrieved with the decision, it may apply to the High Court for judicial review.
United Mission Foundation was established to help empower Malawians in areas of education, agriculture and administering loans.
