The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT- (BA4Y) says it is optimistic that more young people will be financially independent and contribute to the country’s economic growth once they fully utilize the business opportunities at their doorstep.
BA4Y Business Incubation and Acceleration Officer Oganive Chingakule made the observation during a day-orientation for journalists from districts where Business Acceleration for Youth project will be implemented.
With support from USAID Malawi, BA4Y will implement the project for three years targeting 50 youth and women-led enterprises between the ages of 18-35 in Chikwawa, Mangochi, Zomba, Thyolo, Balaka, Mulanje, Chiradzulu, Machinga and Nsanje.
Among others, the project will engage business trainers to support youths in various sectors except mining to develop their business skills.
Participants will also be given an opportunity to present their business ideas which will enable them to secure funding of up to K2.5 million.
