The National TB and Leprosy Elimination Programe (NTLEP) has registered a high treatment success rate among children diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) in the country.
Henry Kanyerere, NTLEP’s TB and HIV coordinator, made the remarks at a two-day bi-annual meeting of faith-based leaders and members of the media in Salima.
Kanyerere said currently the country has managed to treat 1,473 children diagnosed with TB of the planned 2,432 which represents 90% increase.
He added that for the country to fully eliminate TB by 2030, there is need for an improvement on pediatric TB case finding.
