121 candidates from different prison facilities in the country are sitting for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination which begun on Tuesday.
Malawi Prisons Service spokesperson Chimwemwe Shaba told YFM that there are seven prison facilities being used as examination centres including Blantyre popularly known as Chichiri, Maula in Lilongwe, Bvumbwe, Mzuzu, Mzimba and Zomba.
Out of the number, only three are female candidates at Mzuzu prison.
According to Shaba, the prison department had put much effort in preparing the candidates for the examination.
He however admitted that provision of quality education in prisons remain a challenge hence the need for all stakeholders to render more assistance.
