The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has expressed satisfaction with the registration and voter verification exercise in Mtiya Ward in Zomba.

Speaking after a media monitoring session in Satema primary school, Atuweni Orphanage care and DC centers in Mtiya Ward, MEC commissioner Carolyn Mfune expressed satisfaction with the turnout of people going to the centers for registration as well as verification.

The commission which is expected to hold local government by-elections in Mtiya Ward in Zomba city and Mwasa Ward in Mangochi Municipality on September 26, 2023, has been conducting the voter registration exercise from Sunday August 20 to run through August 26, 2023.

Speaking to YFM, Mfune has since urged all eligible voters who are yet to verify or register their names in the voters roll, to utilize the remaining two days and participate in the exercise.
