Authorities at the Malawi Regulatory Authority (MACRA) say they have embarked on a project aimed at improving quality service delivery in the telecommunication sector.
MACRA Director of Telecommunications Edward Kauka has disclosed on the sidelines of a five-day interface meeting in Lilongwe which has brought together players in the communication sector to brainstorm on how to address challenges in the sector.
He says the meeting follows documented concerns about poor service delivery citing exorbitant data tariffs and poor network connectivity.
Kauka further said that an information technology (IT) expert has been engaged to oversee the project.
In his reaction, John Kapito, the Executive Director of the Consumer Association of Malawi (CAMA), highlighted that communication costs, poor network connectivity and mobile money fraud are among other challenges suffocating the communication sector.
