The National Water Resources Authority (NWRA) has warned that it will soon start closing all unauthorized boreholes in all the district councils.
NWRA is mandated by the Water Resources Act of 2013 to manage and regulate water resources in Malawi.
NWRA Public Relations Officer, Masozi Kasambara, said they have given owners of all the unlicenced boreholes until November 24 this year to declare with the Authority and access licences or else they risk closure.
He made the remarks during a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting under the Blantyre District Council on its mandate and functions.
