A consortium of human rights organisations fighting for the rights of people with albinism has called on government to speed up construction of houses for people with albinism.
Chimwemwe Masuweta Mungomo, Standing Voice social protection coordinator said the absence of secure homes is exposing them to risk of abduction and various attacks.
Mungomo said much as the issue of housing has been there for some time, cyclone Freddy devastation fueled the challenge.
He made the call at the end of week-long mobile clinics in Mulanje where among other things, people with albinism were undergoing minor surgeries as well as receiving sunscreen oils.
About 541 people with albinism were targeted in the exercise, which was conducted in four districts of Machinga, Zomba Phalombe and Mulanje.
