Zomba District Council Health Promotion Officer, Elina Makwakwa has asked players in child rights protection to work in unity as a way of achieving maximum results.
Speaking during an interface meeting organised by Titukulane Project, Makwakwa said it was sad to note that despite working towards a common goal, partners in the sector have not been coordinating together a situation which has made child protection work less productive.
“Sometimes we may differ on figures for the same work, same area and same sample size. This has been as a result of lack of good coordination and it’s our hope that this meeting will iron that out,” she said.
The meeting was attended to by all the key players at district council level including the police, social welfare, education and gender officials among others.
Speaking after the event Blessings Kandulu, Titukulane’s Social Behaviour Change Technical Coordinator said their intention is to see to it that all social mobilization efforts in the district are yielding fruits.
“As Titukulane, our aim is to ensure that there is adoption of healthy and desired behaviours to improve people’s lives. This is possible when the people are mobilised and empowered as individuals, households as well as community,” Kandulu said.
According to Kandulu, this will facilitate positive individual and collective behavioural change.
