Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu has clarified that government has not forgiven K6 billion in National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) loans.
Kunkuyu said the loans have rather been categorised as bad debts.
Speaking to YFM, during a meeting in Zomba, Kunkuyu said the loans that people obtained in 2011 and 2018 have been written off through processes and accounting principles.
He said this decision was arrived at to pave way for normal functioning of the company while slowly following the debtors.
“To say the loans have been forgiven is only a misunderstanding,” said Kunkuyu.
