Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) employees from the southern region on Friday brought smiles on the faces of about 40 children admitted to Zomba Central Hospital following a donation of assorted items.
Speaking after the donation, one of the employees, Dael Dinemu, said the role of corporate social responsibility does not rest of on the shoulders of companies only but employees can also champion the initiative.
“Apart from the donation, we have also cleaned the surroundings here at the hospital. We got organized and raised about K400 thousand which we have used to support some of the patients with groceries. We hope that employees from other companies will emulate the gesture and assist the needy in the communities,” Dinemu said.
Nursing Officer for the hospital Halima Kapire called upon other well-wishers to assist the hospital with cleaning services highlighting the shortage of human resources.
“We are falling short in terms of human and material resources in the cleaning department. Any assistance in this area will be welcome as we are trying to reduce and control infections,” she said.
The initiative has also taken place in central and northern regions under the Green Touch Initiative.
