President Lazarus Chakwera has taken a swipe at critics of his frequent foreign trips, saying those travels have been beneficial for the country.
Chakwera cited his visit to the United States in 2022 which saw Malawi securing a $350 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact 2 which will among others, ensure construction of roads in the country.
Speaking in Lilongwe during the symbolic launch of the compact, President Chakwera told his critics to stop being crybabies and support his developmental efforts.
He also applauded the US-government for its unwavering financial assistance to the government of Malawi.
Chief Executive Officer for MCC Alice Albright said 12 million Malawians are expected to benefit from a total of $700 million which the US government has invested so far in Malawi through the compact.
