The nation has come to a stand-still following the death of Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight other esteemed Malawians, in a plane crash in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba on June 10.
As one way of ensuring that the late vice president Saulos Klaus Chilima is mourned in a dignified manner, President Lazarus Chakwera declared a 21-day mourning period where the flag of the country will fly at half must, among other things.
Following this declaration, the country has seen a lot of activities that were supposed to take place during this period being postponed in order give respect to the late vice president.
Some of the notable activities include the Tanzania-Malawi Investment and Trade Forum, which was slated for June 12, 2024, in Tanzania, as well as the commemoration of the Day of the African Child which falls on June 16 every year, World Day against Child Labour which falls on 12 June every year and all sporting activities, just to mention a few.
The body of the late Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima is expected to be laid to rest next Monday, June 17, 2024, at Nsipe in Ntcheu district.
