DPP’s Makwinja elected Blantyre City Mayor

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) councilor, Joseph Makwinja has been elected as new mayor for Blantyre City.

Makwinja won with 16 votes against his party counterpart Getrude Chirambo who got 14 votes during the mayoral elections on Monday.

On the post of deputy mayor, councilor Isaac Jomo Osman of DPP won by 11 votes against former deputy mayor Funny Baraba Kanojerera of UTM who amassed ten votes and Gerard lipikwe of DPP who got nine votes.
