Church hands over borehole to Chisi Island communities

In a bid to enhance access to clean and portable water, the Everlasting Life Missionary Church in Zomba on Tuesday handed over a borehole to communities in Maluwa Village at Chisi Island on Lake Chilwa.

Speaking to YFM during the handover ceremony, Founder of the church, James Chikopa, said the donation which is worthy K2.5 million, is part of the ministry’s charity work.

Chikopa said they were compelled by the persistent challenge of lack of portable and safe water on the island.

“Safe and portable water is very important as such it is our responsibility to support government’s effort in ensuring that everyone in the country has access to clean, safe and portable water,” said Chikopa.

Group Village Head Tchuka applauded the church for the donation saying was timely.

The traditional leader said the gesture will ease the challenges they have been facing in accessing safe and portable water.
