Thirty people have today died in two separate road accidents in Kasungu and Zomba.
Zomba police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano said four people have died whilst several others have been injured following a minibus that overturned at 7 Miles.
Sipiliano said those injured were taken to Zomba Central Hospital for treatment.
On Thursday morning, police also confirmed the death of 26 people who were involved in an accident in Kasungu.
Kasungu police spokesperson, Joseph Kachikho, minibus registration number MZ11670, coming from Chinkhoma going to Santhe, collided with a track carrying fuel, after the minibus driver lost control when it hit and killed a cyclist who was crossing the road.
Kachikho said the minibus overturned and was set ablaze, killing all 25 passengers including the driver on the spot.
Commenting on the incident, President Lazarus Chakwera together with his spouse, Monica Chakwera expressed sorrow on the tragedy and has sent their sympathies to the bereaved families.
