Survivors call for collaboration in tackling childhood cancer

Government and all the stakeholders in health sector, have been asked to collaborate in intensifying sensitization messages about childhood cancer.

Executive director for Cancer Survivors Quest (CSQ), a local-based organisation dedicated to supporting cancer patients and survivors, Chikhulupiliro Ng’ombe, made the appeal as the month of September was set aside for the world to be commemorating childhood cancer.

Ng’ombe has further expressed concern that the fight against childhood cancer is facing many challenges due to long distances for the patients to access treatment.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), each year, an estimated 400 000 children and adolescents of 0-19 years old develop cancer.
